Fair questions, honest answers
Frequently asked questions
Does my loved one know they’re enrolled?
Always. Personal consent is required, and we never test anyone in secret. What keeps ScamPrep effective is that they don't know when the next drill will come or what form it will take. Real scammers don't make appointments either.
What if it upsets or embarrasses them?
Drills follow published research on how older adults learn best: private and positive, with reassurance right away. If they click, reply, or answer, they get a friendly 30-second lesson, visible only to them. If it isn't landing well, unenroll in one click.
What if they never fall for a single drill?
That's great news! Their Resilience Report proves it quarter after quarter, and continued practice introduces newer tactics while giving them more chances to use what they've learned. Think of it like a smoke detector: even if you haven’t had a fire yet, you have it in case of one.
Will this actually work?
No one can promise a person will never be scammed, and you should walk away from anyone who does. What the research shows: one-time education fades within about a month, while simulated practice with immediate coaching is the approach a 2024 federal research review called promising. It's also how nearly every large company trains its employees. See Why it works.
Do you access bank accounts or financial information?
Never. ScamPrep doesn't monitor money. We only need contact channels, like an email address and phone number.
Is this another app they'll have to manage?
No, and that's deliberate. There is nothing to download and no password to remember. Drills and briefings arrive through the channels they already use every day, like their email inbox and cell phone. There's nothing new to check or keep charged. If they can read a text, that's all the setup there is.
What kinds of practice scams do you send?
Practice versions of what's actually circulating: fake bank alerts, delivery fees, surprise invoices, "grandparent in trouble" calls, tech-support calls, and new variants as they appear. Every one comes from a company that doesn't exist, and we draw on FBI and FTC reporting to keep them current. Nothing ever involves real money or real personal risk.
Which channels do drills use?
Recipients choose when they confirm enrollment: email, text, phone calls, or any mix, and they can turn any of them off at any time. Between drills, short alerts on the newest scams arrive by email.
Is it legal to send simulated scam texts and calls?
Yes, with proper consent. Each person gives written consent, electronically, before any practice text or call, following the consent standard in the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. It's why every enrollment starts with an email invite only they can accept, and why we treat consent as a feature rather than paperwork. The full detail is in Our promise.
How do I introduce this to someone who is confident they can spot scams?
Optimism bias ("it won't happen to me") is behind much of the $2M+ lost to scams every hour. Scammers fool professionals every day. Introduce ScamPrep as a chance to practice spotting newer scams, rather than a concern about their judgment.

Who sees the Resilience Report?
Your loved one and the family members they choose, every quarter. It shows which drills ran, what was caught, what was missed, and what we're reinforcing next. Nobody else sees it, and nobody is monitored behind their back.
Can I enroll myself?
Yes, and many do! Protecting yourself against scams is always a smart move. You enroll yourself through the same process as a loved one, and the Resilience Report goes only to you.
What does it cost?
$9 a month for one person, $15 for two (the Pairs plan), or $19 for up to four, billed annually. Monthly options also available. Every plan carries a 60-day money-back guarantee. Financial advisors can sponsor their clients at partner pricing, starting with a founding pilot. See pricing
